If you’re in or around Alberton, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. The atmosphere is lively and perfect for a casual hangout with friends and family. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. The food was good with that “hearty”, saucy feel. The kota portions were decent too. We ordered the DBL cheeseburgers, and although I do think the fries could’ve been a bit more, uhm but the burger itself was good. The pepperoni crumbed chicken had really nice flavour combinations. The Blondie Kota was nice and saucy, but the steak was a bit dry and chewy. Even so, it still tasted good overall. The Jozi Kota reminded me of a proper kasi kota, which I loved. I had mine with atchaar and a chilli Russian, and that was definitely one of my favourites. I’m still not too sure about the shawarma kota. It wasn’t bad, but the flavour profile just wasn’t really for me. Still, it’s nice to try something different. The Dagwood Kota was also my favourite. The patty was juicy, everything was nice and saucy, and it was honestly delicious. Their ice cream and extra thick shakes are the best! To die for! As for the retro milkshakes, they looked really good, but taste-wise they were just milkshakes nothing to write home about. Overall, it’s a great spot with good food, good vibes, and I’d definitely go back.

After an amazing day touring Soweto, including Vilakazi Street and the iconic Soweto Towers, our family stopped by Kota Joe Roadhouse in Alberton. We absolutely loved the retro aesthetics, and the food was incredibly filling👌🏽

Excellent roadhouse, tasty food and delicious milkshakes. Enjoyed the candy floss as take away too.

The best I tell you. The Jozi kota is the one! Their milkshakes 🥰 but they open at 11:00am on Fridays that’s the only downside. Otherwise, tantalising! Not njalo because it’s junk food.

The Milkshakes are by far the best in the country 😍 I always take the Top Deck but tried the Nutella and Biscoff this time and it was incredible 🤭 Did not have food this time around so the 5 star rating on food is purely for the Milkshakes. Waiters are super friendly and the atmosphere is always warm and vibey ✨
